Opening The Compound: A New Chapter Unfolds

The Compound Joe Taveras - Artwork

This past weekend marked a milestone for artist Joe Taveras, founder of New Renaissance Art Advisory: the first opening of The Compound, his secluded art sanctuary in the Northeast.

For the first time, its doors opened to a select group of collectors, dealers, and artists who joined for an intimate day surrounded by hundreds of works. Many of these pieces were created over the past year, several never before seen publicly. This was not just an exhibition — it was a living experience.

A Living Diorama of Art

Each space across the property was curated as a diorama of art in motion. Guests walked through immersive environments where paintings, installations, and conversations converged. The works were not displayed as isolated objects, but as part of a larger unfolding — a dialogue between art, place, and those who gathered to experience them.

From large-scale canvases to intricate studies, the presentation reflected the spectrum of Taveras’ practice: explorations of movement, layers of abstraction, and the energetic play between chaos and order.

The Power of Gathering

What stood out most was the energy of connection. Collectors, artists, and dealers engaged in conversations that extended beyond the work itself — about where art is headed, how it should be shared, and the ideals that guide the New Renaissance.

The Compound was envisioned as more than a studio. It is a sanctuary for dialogue, for experimentation, and for cultivating a deeper relationship between art and community. This opening was the first glimpse of what that can become.

What’s Next for The Compound

This opening is just the beginning. More gatherings will follow, both at The Compound and beyond. The conversations sparked here will continue through New Renaissance’s growing network of artists, dealers, and collectors. And the works that debuted this past weekend will soon take their place in collections around the world.

For those who could not be present, Taveras’ currently available works can be explored on Artsy — the best place to view and acquire pieces that are part of this unfolding journey.
